10th Dissection Drawing Day 16 Sep 2016

Dear all,

we are happy to announce that the 10th BIOMAB-ARSIC Dissection Drawing Day on Friday 16 September 2016 09:30 AM - 05:00 PM in Antwerp, Belgium will be part of the 10th Antwerp Medical Students' Congress SURGERY: ON THE CUTTING EDGE, 14-18 Sep 2016.

BACKGROUND

In medical sciences and especially in surgery traditionally illustrations are created to enable communication between scientist and reader, teacher and student, and physician and patient. Art and science come together in medical illustration.
This year AMSC offers a unique opportunity to those students with wish to study and explore human anatomy together with highly regarded medical artists at the 10th BIOMAB-ARSIC Dissection Drawing Day. You will take part in an intensive workshop, lectures and group discussions on human and comparative anatomy, with time to draw, to paint and to photograph.

Specialists in human (Prof. Dr. Francis Van Glabbeek, dr. Geert Van Eeckhout) and animal anatomy (Prof. Dr. Peter Bols) will dissect and explain in close detail an upper and lower arm, an upper and lower leg, head and neck anatomy with its facial musculature, a human torso and comparative animal anatomy. Medical artists (AEIMS president Pascale Pollier, BIOMAB scientific member dr. Ann Van de Velde and UK based medical artist and independent researcher Lisa Temple-Cox) will supervise the art work.
