11th Dissection Drawing Days 28-29 April 2017

Dear all,

we are happy to announce that the 11th BIOMAB-ARSIC Dissection Drawing Days will be organised on Friday 28 and Saturday 29 April 2017 09:30 AM - 05:00 PM in Antwerp, Belgium.

A full day on Animal Anatomy and Comparative Anatomy will be organised on 28 April 2017 and on Human Anatomy on 29 April 2017.

BACKGROUND

In medical sciences and especially in surgery traditionally illustrations are created to enable communication between scientist and reader, teacher and student, and physician and patient. Art and science come together in medical illustration.
BIOMAB offers a unique opportunity to those students who wish to study and explore human anatomy together with highly regarded medical artists at the 11th BIOMAB-ARSIC Dissection Drawing Day. You will take part in an intensive workshop, lectures and group discussions on human and comparative anatomy, with time to draw, to paint and to photograph.

Specialists in human (Prof. Dr. Francis Van Glabbeek, dr. Geert Van Eeckhout) anatomy will dissect and explain in close detail an upper and lower arm, an upper and lower leg (fresh frozen) and give lectures on comparative animal anatomy (together with Prof. Dr. Peter Bols). Medical artists (AEIMS president Pascale Pollier, BIOMAB scientific member dr. Ann Van de Velde and Strassbourg-based HEAR lecturer Yvan Freund) will supervise the art work.
