BACKGROUND

In medical sciences and especially in surgery illustrations are created to enable communication between scientist and reader, teacher and student, and physician and patient. Art and science come together in medical illustration.

BIOMAB offers a unique opportunity to those students who wish to study and explore human anatomy together with professional medical artists at the 13th BIOMAB-ARSIC Dissection Drawing Day. You will take part in an intensive workshop, lectures and group discussions on human and comparative anatomy, with time to draw, to paint and to photograph.

Specialists in human anatomy (Prof. Dr. Francis Van Glabbeek, dr. Geert Van Eeckhout) will dissect and explain in close detail an upper and lower arm, an upper and lower leg (fresh frozen) and give lectures on comparative anatomy (together with Prof. Dr. Peter Bols). Medical artists (AEIMS president Pascale Pollier and BIOMAB scientific member Ann Van de Velde) will supervise the art workshops.
